HUGO The Movie cast and chat.

By Taylor Campos

Imagine yourself living in Paris during the 1930’s. Now imagine the unlimited possibilities of adventure living under cover within the walls of a train station! Think about all the interesting people and situations you would run into on a daily basis trying to survive and unlock a secret.

This was the life of Hugo Cabret. Martin Scorsese’s most recently released work of art is based on Brian Selznick's children’s novel “The Invention of Hugo Cabret”. The book was transformed into a multi-layered movie that will appeal to kids of all ages!

I had the opportunity to go to NYC screening and press conference of Hugo before its release! I was captivated from the beginning to the end of “Hugo”. I would like to thank Martin Scorsese, Paramount, John Logan, Graham King, and Brian Selznick for producing such an astounding feature!

“Hugo” is an adventurous and emotional film about a young twelve-year old orphan (Asa Butterfield) who lives within the walls of a 1930’s Paris train station. However, Hugo didn’t always live behind closed doors. Hugo was forced to move into the station and attend to the clocks with his careless and alcoholic uncle (Ray Winstone) after his father (Jude Law) died in a museum fire.

THE YOUNG PEOPLE’S CHORUS – A TRUE GIFT OF MUSIC

by Rebecca Pauley

As I walked into a Young People's Chorus rehearsal at the Jazz at Lincoln Center, I saw a large group of boys and girls sight singing “Cantare” in Spanish. Their beautiful voices filled the room and all eyes were on their talented conductor, Elizabeth Nuñez.

I noticed when a singer needed help, he or she would turn to the person next to them and work with them until he got it right. As I looked at their smiling faces I began to realize that this was more than just an award winning chorus, this was a family.

Mrs. Nuñez's husband and Artistic Director, Francisco Nuñez, founded the YPC in 1988. The chorus, for more than twenty years, has had children of all ages and ethnic backgrounds taking part in a unique program of music education and child performance. This program not only helps them as adolescents but is a great asset to their success for the rest of their lives.

The chorus has performed, in, just to name a few, The Today Show, Good Morning America, and the American Ballet Theater. Some students even traveled to Germany and Japan! I got the chance to interview several chorus singers and Elizabeth Nuñez.

Bucket and Skinner Hit The Beach

by Taylor Campos

Nickelodeon kicks off summer with the premiere of “Bucket & Skinner’s Epic Adventures” on July 1st, 2011! Bucket and Skinner are two best buds, and your typical high-school freshman. These two frosh are always getting themselves into sticky situations, but seem to have a good sense of humor about it all.

Bucket and Skinner have three main goals in life: to stay friends forever, always be near a beach, and when they’re not near a beach, find a way to get to one. You’re not going to want to miss this live-action teen comedy!

Taylor Gray, the sensible teen who plays Bucket, shared with KidsNewsInc “It’s different and is going to grab the attention of many teens, especially ones who love the beach, or even those who have never seen the beach in real life”.

You’ll always catch Bucket and Skinner hanging out at the beach, shredding some waves, working at the local surf shop, or chasing after girls! Though there are many ‘surfettes’ (girl surfers) on the beach for Bucket and Skinner to drool over, Bucket (Taylor Gray) has his heart set on the class cutie, Kelly (Ashley Argota). Kelly is the brains and beauty of their school. In the premiering episode titled “Epic Election”, Bucket is determined to win Kelly’s heart.

Skinner (Dillon Lane), Buckets best friend, nominates him as class president for the sake of winning over the sincere adoration of Kelly. Little does Skinner know, nominating Bucket for class president forces him to campaign against the most popular jock in school, their rival, Aloe (Glenn McCuen).

Being that Bucket is extremely unprepared and inexperienced with the schools student council, he teams up with Kelly’s younger sister Piper (Tiffany Espensen). Piper is not your typical middle school student, she is always coming up with interesting and cunning schemes to get her way.

iCarly's SHIRT SHEDDING NOAH MUNCK

by Karen Tortorella

When 14 year old actor Noah Munck goes out with his family and friends it is not unusual for kids to ask him to portray his character, Gibby, on Nickelodeon's hit show iCarly and shed his shirt!

Shedding his shirt has been a funny and popular running gag on the show and has helped propel Munck from a frequent actor on the show to a regular on season 3 of iCarly.  Munck plays a highly emotionally energized character named Gibby Cornelius Gibson whose emotions often run away with him, and sometimes get the best of him on Saturdays at 8:00 pm (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.

In this interview he was confident, bright and seemed well grounded.  So, the first question that comes to mind, "Is he like his character?” was asked. He has been quoted in the past as saying the shedding of the shirt even freaked him out at first.
